Five Words I Never Want to Hear Again

Or how I lost four weeks of my life:

1 Lumbar Puncture (I know that's two words but I did have two!)

2 Cannula

3 Needle

4 Vein (where all sharp things end up!)

5 Bacterial Meningitis

Even though it has been a horrific 4 weeks, I am greatful for the love and support of family, friends and colleagues. My house is filled with flowers and good wishes. I am still very tired but every day life gets better.

Oh Sandy, I've seen this procedure done and it's never pretty. Glad you're on the mend, meningitis is nothing to sneeze at, but the lumbar puncture just seems far worse than ever when it's done. Speedy recovery!

Lots of prayers and healing thoughts coming your way Sandy. Be gentle with yourself. It takes a long time to recover fully from these things.

The world is righting itself. I hated the thought of you being so ill, and am delighted you are now in recovery mode enough to be counting words!

I didn't realise you were ill, and very glad to hear that you're getting better now. I had viral meningitis at 17, and though it's milder than bacterial, it was very scary. Be kind to yourself and take the time you need to recover. W x

So glad to hear that you are progressing towards healing. I was alarmed to hear how ill you were. Take care. Take it slow. Take pleasure in living - the simple things in life. xx
