Stories Are Light

In Kate DiCamillo’s The Tale of Despereaux, the mouse Despereaux would rather read books than eat them. When he is sentenced to the dungeon, Gregory the rat jailer, offers to save him. "Why would you save me?" Despereaux asks. Gregory answers, "Because you, mouse, can tell Gregory a story. Stories are light. Light is precious in a world so dark. Begin at the beginning. Tell Gregory a story. Make some light." This blog is about my personal experience in that light.
